Colin “The Guinnmeister” Guinn says goodbye to 3DR!

Today Colin Guinn announced (via LinkedIn) the news that has been on the industry grapevine for some months now, the fact he’s leaving 3D Robotics (or 3DR as they now prefer to be called). Colin and his marketing team at least with 3DR have left on much better terms than they did with DJI which is good news. Colin Guinn is a casualty of 3DR’s decision to leave the consumer drone space and concentrate on enterprise solutions, rumours suggest 3DR’s […]

The Guinnmeister is back on form with new video tutorials

It wasn’t so long since that we had no choice but to Photoshop an imaginary image of what 3D Robotics future tutorials would look like with Colin Guinn back at the helm of a multicopter marketing team, however, now it’s for real. It’s strange to see Colin no longer being the face of DJI but keeping to form with both a workbench with a logo background and flying on a field whilst demonstrating the IRIS+.  There is a sad loss […]

3D Robotics announces the IRIS+

3D Robotics have announced the new IRIS+ with a YouTube video presented by Colin Guinn. The IRIS+ has a longer flight time than the original IRIS, now claimed at 15 minutes with a gimbal, a 3S 5100mAh battery aids this performance improvement.  The propellers have been changed for a self tightening screw on set, along with a much lighter set of landing legs, similar to designs the community itself has been making.  The official 3DR video shows that arm LEDs […]

The update reads “23 July 2014: This matter has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of all parties, ending in the lawsuit’s dismissal and the temporary injunction being dissolved. DJI remains committed to bringing world class service and support to its North American customers through its North American office based in […]

Colin Guinn announces droneshare.com

This week www.creativelive.com has been running some live broadcasts from the drone/UAV industry.  Last night Colin Guinn was speaking about 3D Robotics products and developments in his first public online appearance (that we know of) since his departure from DJI. An interesting announcement made by Colin was the website www.droneshare.com that will show people’s flights online using their telemetry log files. Already DJI owners have a similar facility via a product called Flytrex, albeit that’s at an extra cost, whereas […]

Colin Guinn joins 3D Robotics

Colin Guinn joins 3D Robotics

The Guinnmeister is back! Well the big news of this week, this month and possibly this year is that Colin Guinn is back in the multicopter business and this time with 3D Robotics, his employment was confirmed this afternoon. 3DR has so far hired at least 5 other ex-DJI staff (thanks to the diydronesafety Twitter account for the heads up): Robert Hull – Cinematographer Scott Horn – UAV Pilot Kate Blaising – Marketing Lon Breedlove – Producer > Update August […]
