The Latest Solo Rumours

The Latest Solo Rumours

Rumours abound that the gimbal for the 3DR solo may be delayed, meaning the first batch of Solos could ship with just the GoPro mount and HDMI cable which is included.  3DR have not posted anything on social media to suggest there is any credibility to the rumour but dealerships responding to customer enquiries have given this impression. A YouTube channel called ATx RC Addicts added to rumour mill today, meanwhile an unofficial video has been made by a 3DR owner on […]

Inspire Back On Track After Firmware v1.2.0.16?

Inspire Back On Track After Firmware v1.2.0.16?

Calm has returned to the various Inspire groups in the the last 24+ hours, whilst it could simply be down to users being more cautious and some waiting for their prop locks, there are still people flying and uploading video to YouTube and thus far trouble free. Initially there were some reports of the GPS dropping out following the recent firmware release, however, there are not enough reports to suggest it is a trend, if the GPS does drop out […]

DJI to firmware fix Inspire crashes caused by the IMU

DJI to firmware fix Inspire crashes caused by the IMU

Firmware fixes in themselves are not normally newsworthy, this week might be an exception, as the DJI Inspire which hasn’t even made it to many of those that ordered it, is already due to have its second firmware fix. If you’ve followed multicopter groups on Twitter or Facebook you will have already seen the recent incident with the Inspire where it crashed into a garage in an automatic take off, in an unusual move DJI accepted responsibility on a post […]

The Guinnmeister is back on form with new video tutorials

It wasn’t so long since that we had no choice but to Photoshop an imaginary image of what 3D Robotics future tutorials would look like with Colin Guinn back at the helm of a multicopter marketing team, however, now it’s for real. It’s strange to see Colin no longer being the face of DJI but keeping to form with both a workbench with a logo background and flying on a field whilst demonstrating the IRIS+.  There is a sad loss […]

Richard Branson invests in 3D Robotics

Yesterday billionaire Sir Richard Branson announced on Twitter and on the Virgin website that he was investing in 3D Robotics and he’d invited the 3DR team including Chris Anderson and Colin Guinn to his home on Necker Island. The story is on the Virgin website here: http://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/a-drones-eye-view-of-necker-island Sir Richard Branson is possibly the most high profile figure to have become involved in the multicopter industry and it must surely be a significant achievement for 3D Robotics to have an investor […]

RoboQuad – Our latest video has been well received

RoboQuad – Our latest video has been well received

Thank you for all the kind comments we’ve had on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for our latest video which was a pastiche of Robocop, with references we hope people will recognise from 2001 and League of Gentleman (the BBC TV series) amongst others. The video was primarily filmed on the Panasonic Lumix GH3 with the SLR Magic Anamorphot lens, plus of course the GoPro. The video made us laugh and we’re glad the humour has been well received with positive […]
