DJI to release a thermal camera for the Inspire, the Zenmuse XT FLIR

Today DJI is announcing a new Zenmuse camera for the Inspire, this time it’s a thermal camera, the Zenmuse XT FLIR.  A dealer put the camera onto their website earlier than planned letting the cat out of the bag. The Zenmuse XT FLIR can be mounted to the Inspire 1 or the Matrice 100 as shown below. The XT will be available as two seperate models one with a resolution of 640 x 512 and the other 336 x 256.

DJI today revealed the X5 and X5R, their first Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera gimbals, the specifications are very impressive indeed, DJI in releasing these cameras has almost certainly killed off much of the need for expensive big rigs to carry the likes of the Panasonic GH4. The guys over at the UK retailer www.quadcopters.co.uk have done a detailed look at the H3-3D, it looks like when flown normally there isn’t a noticeable issue of the landing gear getting in the way of shots as seen under extreme yaw.

Quadcopters, a UK retailer in Lancashire have uploaded footage of the H3-3D staying stable under a lot of yaw movement.  Footage from the H3-3D is promised tomorrow.

Whilst we’ve not been bowled over by the initial details on the H3-3D, DJI’s first in-flight demo of the gimbal at least shows that it does look more solid and locked it than the H3-2D, whether that’s enough to update your H3-2D for, we’ll leave you to decide.
