Solo to ship on time but the gimbal is delayed

The rumour that has been floating about for the last couple of weeks that the Solo gimbal was to ship after the Solo itself has been confirmed in an e-mail sent from 3DR to a customer enquiring today, so the Solo will ship on time, the gimbal around 4 weeks later. The question was also asked how would that effect the 30 day satisfaction warranty, given most users would be planning to operate the Solo with the gimbal, 3DR have said […]

The Latest Solo Rumours

Rumours abound that the gimbal for the 3DR solo may be delayed, meaning the first batch of Solos could ship with just the GoPro mount and HDMI cable which is included.  3DR have not posted anything on social media to suggest there is any credibility to the rumour but dealerships responding to customer enquiries have given this impression. A YouTube channel called ATx RC Addicts added to rumour mill today, meanwhile an unofficial video has been made by a 3DR owner on […]

Confession time – we burned the gimbal out

Confession time – we burned the gimbal out

We were testing a robust gimbal with in particular the Letus AnamorphX adapter but as we feared might happen we burned the gimbal out in well under a week.  We want eventually to have an a multicopter based anamorphic rig so that footage from it can be matched to a conventional SLR camera used the SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter. We used the FY-G3 Feiyu-Tech (hand held version) along with a mix of miscellaneous rig components, an Edelkrone EVF holder and […]

Installing the 3 axis DYS gimbal on a 3D Robotics IRIS

Installing the 3 axis DYS gimbal on a 3D Robotics IRIS

A young RC hobbyist Ferdinand Loesch has done a detailed tutorial on adding a 3 axis DYS gimbal, currently this is the gimbal IRIS users are opting for when going 3 axis. We found the DYS to be heavy and not to have the best build quality, the wiring in particular being delicate, however, we’ll see what results people get with the gimbal and we’ll reserve judgement for now.

Using a custom GoPro on a gimbal

Using a custom GoPro on a gimbal

Removing fisheye in post production is a workflow overhead and also isn’t perfect, it’s […]

Detailed look at the H3-3D by UK Retailer Quadcopters

The guys over at the UK retailer www.quadcopters.co.uk have done a detailed look at the H3-3D, it looks like when flown normally there isn’t a noticeable issue of the landing gear getting in the way of shots as seen under extreme yaw.
