DJI unveils the X5 and X5R Micro Four Thirds camera gimbal

DJI today revealed the X5 and X5R, their first Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera gimbals, the specifications are very impressive indeed, DJI in releasing these cameras has almost certainly killed off much of the need for expensive big rigs to carry the likes of the Panasonic GH4. In another surprise move, the gimbal doesn’t only support a single prime lens but 3 in total. Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm f2.0 [FOV 84°] Full Frame 24mm equivalent. DJI MFT 14mm f1.7 […]

Leak photos suggest that the DJI announcement is a Micro Four Thirds DJI camera

Photos have leaked from SB-DJI.com which show the DJI Zenmuse X5 camera gimbal, which is Micro Four Thirds (MFT) flying on the Inspire.  As DJI themselves are a Micro Four Thirds system member, it was always expected that they would make their own camera eventually, the only reason you become a member is to manufacturer your own cameras, otherwise you’re reliant on third parties. The only feature preventing this camera from being the “perfect” upgrade from a GoPro for aerial video would be 50/60 FPS allowing for slow motion along with a higher bitrate, however, even without these it’s a worthy camera to be considered on any upgrade path. http://www.eoshd.com/content/11643/panasonic-gm1-review-another-pocket-cinema-camera http://www.ephotozine.com/article/panasonic-lumix-gm1-full-review-23197

Panasonix GX7 – Claims of GH3 video quality in a smaller body

There are a lot of exciting cameras about in general, where a camera looks special for both normal video-photography and also aerial video-photography then I’m interested.  The Panasonic Lumix GH3 is a wonderful camera (apart from the lack of focus peaking and a less than perfect EVF) and has been combined with the GH2 Zenmuse (after modification) and used in shows such as the BBC’s Topgear, however for amateurs or semi-pros other options are always of interest. The GoPro Zenmuse […]
